Gráinne has a background in primary school teaching and has been working as a psychologist and psychotherapist since 1995. She works with children, teenagers and adults and provides consultation and supervision to psychologists and psychotherapists.
She has been involved in the training of professionals working with children and teenagers for a number of years and is a lecturer on the MSc (Psychotherapy) in Trinity College.
Gráinne works with all types of problems that children can present with. For example anxiety, difficulties sleeping, psychosomatic problems, depression, eating disorders and learning problems.
She is particularly interested in working with parents because of the importance of the parent-child relationship. She uses lots of different approaches – depending on the child’s personality and age – talking/listening, art, sand tray therapy, dream interpretation, CBT methods and Mindfulness.
She has recently expanded her practice to include working with couples and has trained in Emotionally Focussed Therapy (EFT). A relatively substantial body of research now exists on the effectiveness of EFT.Make an appointment
